In order to do this, please ensure that you have an active subscription with Semrush’s paid plan. I know that people are asking me to compare between Semrush and Ahrefs. So, this article will focus mostly about Semrush, i will update an article with instruction about site audit with Ahrefs later.

To start, you need to enter a domain into this field. Of course, you can use this for yourself or your client project. Then, you need to determine the amount of URL on your website that you need to crawl.
How many pages to crawl will depend on the plan you purchase on Semrush. Within minute, the app will crawl the links for you. Look at here, you can see, i still have some errors and warnings on my website, so, i need to fix this.
For errors, it should be zero. Warnings and Notices must be decreased as the lowest score as possible. For errors, it can explain what is the page showing errors.
For example, i have an error about Schema structured on web pages. As you can see, i’m missing the thumbnail url field.
So, what i need to do now is to visit that exact webpage, and then, fix the issue on that page.
BackLink Audit with Semrush
Besides the on page SEO audit, you need to audit the Off-page too. You know, we’re in the SEO game, and Google has changed a lot. They credit backlink but they only credit high quality, natural and relevant backlinks to rank. Not the backlinks.
To check if your link is on a good domain or not, you need to check the toxic level of that domain. I know that in some cases, you don’t create them yourself, This is because competitors are playing trick to you to submitting a bunch of rubbish, crappy backlinks so your website hit Google Penguin penalty, which leads to reduction on website’s traffic. You can see that these are clearly toxic/unnatural backlinks, so, i need to move them into a group to remove.

In most of the cases, backlinks which are easy to create are not appreciated by Google. That’s why you should avoid Web 2.0 backlink, Private Blog network, Link Farm, Link Exchange (i backlink you, you backlink me back), “Write for Us” pages.
To me, i have already read a lot of pages from SEO Expert, and i see that most people will recommend you to manually contact with the domain, website owner of these toxic links to remove your links first.
And the tip here is that you don’t use the angry word, use the polite words, i know, many of you are angry and upset because someone is backlinking to websites with crappy links, which hurts SEO of your website. In fact, there are available templates for you to send emails to them, and you can send in bulk.
In case you can not contact them and you try many ways but you can’t get the links removed, then, you can use the Google Disavow tool.
So, if you have move toxic domain into a disavow group, then, you can export a TXT file, which you can upload on the Google Disavow tool.
